This was possibly one of the most peaceful looking places imaginable. A wide open field full of nothing but grass and the occasional patch of flowers. There was a stream running through the middle, and it was surrounded by forest. Nature was in control here, and it was beautiful with deer frolicking around innocently.

Suddenly, a few things happened at once: The first was that two colorful swirling masses of colored vortex appeared about ten five feet off the ground. The second was that people began falling out of these portals. The third was that all the innocent wildlife scattered.

Out of the first portal fell Rika Furude. Since she fell from a height that was taller than her, it was somewhat painful when she fell on her back. Next was Hanyu, and she had it worse, falling on her head.

“Well, that went well.” Rika commented.

“Better than I expected, anyway.” Hanyu added quietly.

Both Rika and Hanyu jumped when they heard a very loud voice instructing, “Alright, now for the next two!” Call over the field. Then Rika looked up, noticed the vortex above her, and moved, pulling Hanyu out of the way, wondering for a second why Hanyu had a physical form right now.

However, ‘the next two’ didn’t come from the portal above them. Instead, a boy their age with red hair fell out of the opposite portal, looking around. “Well, that was interesting.” He commented. Suddenly, A somewhat girly looking blond boy fell out and landed right next to him.

“You!” He yelled at the red-haired boy. “Give me back my chocolate!”

“Uh-oh…” Matt said to himself before being tackled to the ground by his best friend.

Hanyu and Rika both felt sweat-drops roll down the back of their heads.

“Um… Excuse me?” Hanyu said to them in her usual timid voice.

Both Mello and Matt ignored them and kept fighting in the dirt.

“Um… Hello?” Hanyu continued.

Neither payed any attention to her.

“Um-“

“HEY!” Rika yelled, standing right next to them. This caught them both off-guard, and they fell back, landing in a sitting position.

“Hi.” Matt greeted them.

“What do you want?” Mello asked.

Hanyu and Rika exchanged glances.

“Um… Sorry. You see… People are falling out of all those portals. One happens to be above you. If you’re standing there when someone falls out, they could land on you.”

“Oh. Thanks.” Matt replied, moving away from under the portal. Mello, however stayed put.

“So did you bring us here?” He asked Rika.

“No. I walked into a portal and fell out here. Nippa~”

“What does ‘Nippa’ mean?”

“Nothing really, it’s just a word I like to say.”

“Well, that’s kind of stupid, don’t you think?”

Hanyu stopped and glanced back at Mello and Rika.

“Oh no… He has no idea what he’s doing…” She said to herself.

“What do you mean?” Matt, who had overheard her comment, asked.

“Rika can be really scary when she’s mad…” Hanyu explained. “And it seems like he’s trying to make her mad.”

“Well, it isMello, after all. He’s not that smart.” Matt replied.

“I guess- Oh! By the way, I’m Hanyu.” She smiled adorably. “What’s your name?”

“Eh…” He had to actually think about this for a second. Hanyu was his age, and she was really cute, too. Finally, he was able to think enough to say. “Oh, right. Matt. I’m Matt… Er… Nice to meet you.” He said the last part glancing in a different direction. He ended up watching Mello and Rika arguing. Wow… She’s cute, too. he thought to himself, wondering why they didn’t have any cute girls his age where he had come from.

“Yeah, nice to meet you.” Hanyu started watching Mello and Rika argue, too. “Oh… He’s managed to make her mad… He deserves a medal for that. It’s really hard to do.” She decided not to mention that she was one of the few people who had managed to do it before.

Matt laughed. “Well, he’s good at that kind of thing.”

“Look,” Matt said to Rika, sounding irritated. “All I’m saying, is adding nonsense words like ‘Nippa’ to the end of sentences is stupid.”

“And all I’m saying is that you are in no place to be calling ANYTHING stupid while you’re sitting under a portal that people are going to start falling out of soon!”

“Has anyone fallen on me?”

“Not yet.”

“Didn’t think so. My point stands.”

“That’s like saying, ‘Did the bomb explode yet?’”

“No it isn’t.”

At that moment, Near fell out of the portal and hit Mello on the head, knocking him to the ground.

“One word: Ha.” Rika commented while Mion fell out of the second portals.

“Shut up.” Mello ordered, standing up and moving away from the portal. Near had barely stood up when he walked away from the portal.

Suddenly, the voice Rika and Hanyu had heard called again over the field. “This isn’t fun. They aren’t getting hurt at all. Raise the portals.” The portals lifted three feet higher.

“Couldn’t it hurt to fall from eight feet?” Hanyu wondered.

“Yup.” Matt replied. “Especially the way we’ve all been falling. By the way, how did that go for you?”

“I landed on my face…”

“Are you okay?”

“Yup! I’m fine!”

“Alright, good.”

“Um…” Mion said, moving from the portal and looking around. “Where are we?”

“No clue.” Rika replied. She was still smiling triumphantly.

“Right…” Mion commented.

Suddenly, Keiichi fell out of his portal and landed sitting up. “Ow…” He said to himself.

“Are you okay, Kei-chan?” Mion asked, looking down at him.

“Well, I don’t know.” He replied, standing up. “I just fell from eight feet in the air out of a swirling vortex-thing that Shion and Rena pushed me into and-“ He was cut off as Rena fell out of the portal. Instinctively, He caught her before she hit the ground.

“Thank you.” She said as he set her down on the ground. “It looked like it might have been painful to land on the ground from that high up and- Um… Keiichi? Why are you glaring at me like that?”

“Rena, run.” Mion suggested. Rena followed her advice and took off like the devil was chasing her, even though it was only Keiichi. (Holding Satoshi’s bat.)

This chase was interrupted as L fell out of the portal, landing on his feet.

“Um… L?” Mello said, looking confused. “Didn’t that hurt?”

“Not really.” L replied, shrugging. At that moment, Misa fell out of the portal and landed in the river.

Everybody felt sweat-drops roll down the backs of their heads.

“When did the river get under that portal?” Hanyu wondered. Matt just shrugged.

Misa tried to climb out of the river, but slipped on the edge. “Man this is annoying…” She said to herself, trying and failing to hold on to the slippery edge. This went on for about five minutes before L finally decided to go help her out of the river.

“Thanks.” She said irritably, resisting the urge to yell at him for waiting ten minutes for fear of him pushing her in again.

“Who else is left?” The voice asked again. “Oh, right.”

“Does that voice creep you out, too?” Hanyu asked Rika, who had recently decided to join her and Matt.

“I’ve seen creepier things, but yeah. That’s definitely on my list.”

Suddenly, Light fell out of the portal. He was probably going to land on his feet the way L did, but the sugar obsessed detective was too fast: He ran over and pushed Light while he was still in the air, so that he ended up falling on his back into the river. This caused Matt to start laughing and Mello to high-five L. Most of the other people started laughing too, but not with as great of an effect since they didn’t know Light.

Near would have probably laughed as well, but that would be showing an emotion, and therefore be against his code of laws.

Out of the other portal fell Shion. “Hey…” She said, looking around. “What’s so funny?”

“You missed it, so I guess it would be hard for you to understand, even if someone explains it to you.” Misa replied, walking over to her. “Do you have any clue why all these people are appearing here?”

“Not at all…” Shion replied apologetically.

“Oh. Ok then. Thanks anyway. I’m Misa Amane, by the way.”

“Shion Sonozaki.” She replied, standing up. “Nice to meet you.”

“Same to you. Oh, and you should probably move away from there before someone else falls out.”

“Heh… Good idea.” Shion moved out of under the portal.

Suddenly, two more things happened at once. The first is that the second portal closed, and the second is that Satoko fell out of the first. Thanks to big sister instinct (Even though she wasn’t really her big sister) Shion caught Satoko.

“Nice catch.” Misa commented.

“Thanks. Hey, Satoko, are you okay?”

“Uh-huh… I’m fine.” She replied as Shion set her on the ground. “Where are we?”

“I don’t think anyone knows…” She suddenly looked off to another direction. “Hey… Why is Keiichi chasing Rena with that bat?”

“Well,” Mion replied, walking up to her sister, “Apparently, it’s because she pushed him into a portal, and he got mad.”

“Uh-oh.” Shion commented, right before running away.

“Bye-bye, Sis!” Mion called after her.

“Oh, wait…” Rena said to herself. She turned to face Keiichi with huge, adorable eyes. “Keiichi…” She said in an extremely cute, sad voice. “Are you really going to hit me with that bat?” She asked, walking up to him. Keiichi suddenly paused, his face going red.

“Dear God, Rena, not again…” Mion said, resisting the urge to laugh. Misa smiled evilly.

“Does she usually do that?”

“Only when she feels like it… Or feels threatened. I think it’s her version of self-defense… It stinks that it only works on Keiichi, though.” Both Misa and Mion started laughing evilly.

“Hey, Keiichi?” Rena said, sounding concerned and still obnoxiously cute. “You’re face is really red. Are you okay? You don’t have a fever or anything, do you?” She asked, walking closer to him and putting her hand on his forehead. Immediately, Keiichi backed up and fell into the river.

Satoko laughed in her evil way, walking over to the river. “Kei-chan, you’re just powerless against Rena, aren’t you?”

“Shut up.” He ordered, his head barely above the water. Light had finally climbed out of the river.

“L…” He said, glaring in his general direction as if waiting for an explanation.

“What?” He asked innocently. “It was funny!”

“Light-kun, are you okay?” Misa asked, walking up to him. Light waved her off.

“Fine.”

Finally, Satoshi fell out of the last remaining portal before it disappeared.

“Nii-nii!” Satoko exclaimed, leaving Keiichi and running over to tackle hug her older brother.

“Oh? Satoko!” Satoshi hugged his younger sister.

“Satoshi?” Shion turned around with huge eyes and ran to hug him as well.

“Hi, Shion.” Satoshi replied, hugging Shion. “This is Shion, right?”

“Yes.”

“Yay! I got it right! Oh, by the way.” He started digging around in his pocket. “I found your ribbon.” He said, handing it to her.

“Oh… Thank you.” She replied, blushing.

“Nii-nii, I’m so sorry for backing you into a corner!” Satoko said, crying and hugging Satoshi.

“Satoko… It’s alright. Really.” He smiled at her.

“Ah, Satoshi. Where exactly have you been?” Mion asked, walking up to join the group.

“I took a nap and kind of overslept.” He explained, rubbing the back of his head and laughing nervously.

“For a year?” Satoko, Shion, and Mion asked at the same time, in disbelief.

“Er… Well, yeah.” He replied, glancing around nervously. “I don’t know how it happened either.”

“Well, as long as you’re back.” Shion replied, hugging Satoshi.

“Um… Hate to ruin your little… Moment.” The voice called over the field. “But can you save the teary reunion for later? I’m getting bored…”

“Maybe you’d be a little less bored if you stopped yelling over the field and came over here?” L called back.

“What?! Why you… Who said that?!”

“L!” He replied.

“Oh… In that case, it’s okay. Fine, I’ll come over there.” It responded.

“Come to think of it,” Matt commented. “That was a girl’s voice, wasn’t it?”

“Huh…” Rika looked up at the sky, “I didn’t really think about it, but it was, wasn’t it?”

“Well… We’ll see when they get here, won’t we?”

“Yeah.”

Mion looked over at the river. “Hey, Keiichi! Planning to come out anytime soon?” She called.

“I’ve been trying.” He replied, trying to climb onto the edge but falling in again. “It’s really slippery.”

“Ah well, good luck with that!” She called back.

“Um… Shouldn’t you help him or something?” Misa asked.

“Kei-chan’s a man. He’ll be fine.” She replied.

“Oh…” Misa looked back and forth between Mion and the struggling Keiichi for a few seconds. “Wait. If he’s a man, then why do you call him Kei-chan?”

“…” Mion stared blankly at Misa. “You talk too much.”

“Alrighty then!” Everyone turned to face the voice that sounded exactly like the one that they had heard calling over the field, except less magnified.

And once again, everybody felt sweat-drops roll down the backs of their heads…
Lol, wow that was long! But I still got it done a lot faster than the last one! I think it's because it was so much fun to write! XD

Yup... I'm particularly proud of L in this chapter. And Rena was just being plain evil! I think Keiichi needs a hug... Lol.

Anyway, this is the REAL chapter 3. I'm sorry for the confusion.
